ASTM A514 Gr.Q Plate Description
ASTM A514 Grade Q is a high yield strength alloy steel plate that has been quenched and tempered for structural applications that require high yield strength, good formability and toughness.
A514 Grade Q has a minimum yield strength of 100 ksi up to 2.5 inches in thickness and 90 ksi for plates greater than 2.5 inches up to 6 inches in thickness, typical used in transport trailers, construction equipment, crane booms, mobile aerial work platforms, agriculture equipment, heavy vehicle frames and chassis.
High-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) is a type of alloy steel that provides better mechanical properties or greater resistance to corrosion than carbon steel. HSLA steels vary from other steels in that they are not made to meet a specific chemical composition but rather specific mechanical properties.
